Quilting's Colorful Past
In this kid-friendly program, Derrilyn Harbeston will talk briefly about the history of quilts in America and discuss shapes, colors, and patterns. Then she will help kids design their own quilt squares that they can take home with them. Derrilyn Harbeston is a former volunteer at Alamance Battleground where she protrayed women's work before, during, and after the Revolutionary War. She also volunteered at Cedarock Historical Society, portraying life on a NC farm from 1835-1900. As a volunteer at both places, she learned candle making, clothing, scherenschnitte, weaving, music, quilting, spinning, and many other skills.
