DESCRIPTION:It's fun for the whole family as US Coast Guard Station - Oak Island gears up for their 5th annual Station Oak Island Safety Day and Expo on Saturday June 5th\, 2010 - 10 am to 2pm. There is no admission\; parking is free parking and close by! \nThere will be exhibits by Southport\, Oak Island\, Caswell Beach Police\, Fire and EMS Departments plus NC Fish and Wildlife officers\, Brunswick County Sheriff's Department and their new helicopter. US Coast Guard\, LifeFlyte and Sable helicopters will be on display. An Air Force F-18 flyover is planned. Boats and more boats! Step aboard a USCG 25 foot Fast Response Boat\, A 47 foot Motor Lifeboat\, or a 41 Utility Boat from USCG Station Wrightsville Beach. Sunny Point Military Ocean Terminal Security and Cape Fear Pilot boats will be there for you to walk on. Meet a bomb-sniffing dog along with search and rescue dog teams from our local area. \nLocal USCG Auxiliary Flotilla Units will be there to assist the station with various events. They will help you pick-up the latest in Boating Safety Information\, Safe Boating Class Schedules or you can sign up for a Free Vessel Safety Inspection for your boat. The auxiliary is also helping another exhibitor -The Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina with their Food Drive this year. You will find collection bins at the station for your non-perishable food donations. \nThe station has developed a website: for more information\, details and up dates.
