Lower Cape Fear Hospice will offer a free grief workshop, Kids, Teens and Grief, from 3-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at its Bladen County office, 116 W. Broad St. in Elizabethtown. To register, call 910-515-6689. When leaving a message, please leave your name, phone number and indicate the program you wish to attend. The program is free but donations are appreciated.
“The death of a loved one is difficult for everyone, and children feel the loss strongly,” said Melissa Rogers, Lower Cape Fear Hospice bereavement counselor. “Because children and teens understand death differently from adults, their reactions may be different. Some of the things they say or do may seem puzzling. This workshop reviews how children grieve and how parents and other caring adults can help them understand death better. It offers suggestions for helping children cope with death and grief.”
Grief workshops will be offered the second Tuesday of each month through December at LCFH’s Bladen County office. Each will focus on a specific aspect of grief and the grieving process.
Additional groups and programs will be offered throughout the year. Grief counseling services are available to LCFH patients’ families, as well as others in the community.
