Join us in celebrating NC Oyster Month with a hands-on opportunity to make a difference! Delicious oysters depend on clean water. Stormwater runoff is the number one cause of shellfish harvesting closures.
We’re inviting volunteers to team up with the Federation, NC Sea Grant, and Dreams Center for Arts Education for a special garden cleanup event. Let’s come together to beautify and maintain the gardens around the Center, setting the stage for the exciting creation of their new secret garden.
Our collaborative effort will involve clearing, planting, and nurturing the green spaces that will soon evolve into a captivating secret garden. Whether you’re a gardening enthusiast or simply passionate about nature, your involvement matters. The secret garden will feature nature-based stormwater strategies like using native vegetation to help capture, absorb, and filter polluted runoff helping to protect our surrounding estuarine environments. Whether you’re a gardening enthusiast or simply passionate about nature, your involvement matters.
This is a great chance to be part of a meaningful event that celebrates our estuaries and nurtures our local community. Join us as we work hand in hand to create a lasting impact and prepare the grounds for a remarkable transformation.
