Experienced Paralegal/Legal Assistant

Watts Phanco Law Group PLLC is a busy, established, small general practice law firm located in Shallotte, NC, proudly serving clients in Brunswick County, NC, and Horry County, SC. We are seeking an experienced, highly organized Paralegal to join our team immediately. This is a vital, fast-paced role requiring a high degree of competence and client interaction.
 
Key Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will manage and support attorneys across our primary practice areas (Family Law, Civil Litigation, Probate, and HOA Law), including:

  • Case Management: Maintain, organize, and manage physical and electronic client files, ensuring strict adherence to deadlines.
  • Court Filings: Prepare, format, and e-file legal documents (pleadings, motions, notices, discovery responses) in NC Superior and District Courts.
  • Drafting: Draft legal correspondence, routine pleadings, discovery requests, and initial estate planning documents under attorney supervision.
  • Client Communication: Serve as a primary point of contact, handling communications and status updates with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel professionally and efficiently.
  • Financial Administration: Assist with preparing monthly billing statements and entering client time and disbursements (cost logs) into our billing software.
  • Administrative Support: Manage attorney calendars, schedule appointments, and coordinate file movement.
 
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Experience: Proven experience (2+ years strongly preferred) working as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant, with demonstrated knowledge of North Carolina Civil Procedure and court rules.
  • Skills: Exceptional organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent verbal/written communication abilities.
  • Technical Proficiency: Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel are essential).
  • Professionalism: Must be reliable, proactive, and capable of handling confidential information with discretion.
  • Immediate Need: Ability to start immediately is highly valued.
